Alongside the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables (DNRR), the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency provided an update Friday regarding the ongoing wildfires in Halifax, N.S.

On Friday morning, the DNRR announced that there are currently 15 active wildfires in the province. Environment Canada forecasts a 60 per cent chance of showers Friday, with rain beginning in the evening.

Fire Chief Ken Stuebing said Thursday that all hands were on deck as firefighters continued efforts to fully contain an out-of-control wildfire burning in the Halifax-area, along with several “outside” fires.

“We’re stretched but we’re not broken,” he said, adding that firefighters “deserve time away from these incident scenes to decompress and get well.”
