Nova Scotia Premier Houston Tim Houston and other officials provided an update on the ongoing wildfires in across the province on Monday.

This update comes only one day since the province announced that the historic wildfire that destroyed about 200 buildings and caused thousands to evacuate Tantallon — and the surrounding Halifax area — is now 100 per cent contained.

Though the press release said the wildfire isn’t entirely extinguished, they confirmed it is currently under control and no longer expected to spread.

Houston later announced on Sunday that weather conditions have led to a lifting of a province-wide ban on activity and travel in the woods, which will come into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday. The burn ban remains in effect.
