Dave Rockwood, the public information officer for Shelburne, N.S., announced on Sunday that as of 10 a.m. Monday, Highway 103 will reopen. This comes as Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said the Tantallon wildfire is now "officially under of control."

At this time, however, he said the area is still restricted to the public until firefighters can confirm it's safe.

Houston said reopening this highway has been a top priority for the government amid the wildfires.

As firefighters begin to receive help from rain that moved into the province this weekend, officials announced Saturday morning that the fire in the Tantallon area is no longer deemed out of control, though it may still be a while before the blaze is completely extinguished.
