Speaking on Thursday, his first full day in office after being sworn-in as president, Joe Biden outlined the details of his administration’s plan to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, saying progress “will take time to measure.”

Biden said his administration would be transparent about any setbacks it experiences on the path to recovery, but cautioned that the situation in the U.S. is likely to “get worse before it gets better.”

The president also announced a new requirement for air travellers to be tested for COVID-19 before entering the U.S. He said everyone would be required to quarantine upon entering the country, though he did not say how long they would have to quarantine for.

In addition, Biden announced Thursday that the U.S. is rejoining the World Health Organization. He also announced plans to re-establish the pandemic unit established under former president Barack Obama as part of the National Security Council.
