COVID-19: Biden outlines preparations for Omicron wave as holidays approach | FULL

U.S. President Joe Biden laid out on Tuesday further measures his administration is taking as Omicron variant dominates cases in the U.S.

Biden pleaded for unvaccinated Americans to get their shots, and reassured those who did that they will be able to enjoy their holidays.

"You should feel comfortable celebrating the holidays as you planned it, you know you’ve done the right thing, you can enjoy the holiday season,” he said.

Biden announced that an additional 10,000 vaccination sites will be set up across the country, on top of the 80,000 sites already in place.

He also announced that private insurance will cover COVID-19 tests taken at hospitals and doctors’ offices, and also at-home tests.

More pop-up clinics will be set up across the states and more emergency testing sites will be available in high-demand areas.

Biden also addressed preparations for hospitals as COVID-19 surge, which include stockpiling millions of gowns, masks, ventilators, and directing the Pentagon to get 1,000 military doctors and nurses ready for deployment upon request.
