An Omicron surge is now considered inevitable in the United States, as cities like New York and Washington, D.C. recorded high case numbers in the last 24 hours. Hospitalizations are also on the rise and restrictions are slowly coming back in some places.

Now U.S. President Joe Biden is issuing dire warnings ahead of the holidays, as the variant tightens its grip on the country, while hospitals still deal with the Delta variant.
