The Alberta Emergency Management Agency said that so far, 275 structures, including homes, businesses outbuildings, commercial and other properties have been damaged amid out-of-control wildfires in the province.
"Our thoughts are with anyone who has lost homes or businesses or experienced any loss as a result of these wildfires," executive director Colin Blair said. "We know this is an extremely difficult time and the resilience that Albertans have shown has been striking."
Officials are also reminding Albertans about the fire risk ahead of the may long weekend.
Christie Tucker with Alberta Wildfire said, "May long weekend is traditionally a time when we see a spike in human-caused fires, and human-caused fires are entirely preventable."
Tucker was hopeful that fire bans and off-highway vehicle restrictions would help to reduce the fire danger.
"That shouldn't be an issue this weekend because we do have a fire ban in place across the entire forest protection area as well as in many parks as well. So there won't be campfires, she added.
