Officials gave an update on the Alberta wildfires on Saturday and said that the provincial state of emergency will expire at 11:59 p.m.

Rain and cooler temperatures are helping crews manage wildfires in the province's north. But, officials are warning the fire danger is expected to remain high for the foreseeable future.

"Right now, we do not anticipate a need for another provincial state of emergency, but the government will consider it if in the future," Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services Mike Ellis said. "If the situation does require it to be, we will take swift action and use all the tools in the toolbox that are available to ensure the safety of all Albertans."

In addition, officials said with the state of emergency's end, the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre will move to a level three starting Sunday. There will also be no change to support levels, resourcing, and co-ordination officials are providing, even as the situation begins to improve.
