The West Kelowna fire chief says the total number of structural losses from wildfires burning near his community as well as Westbank First Nation is estimated to be fewer than 90.

Jason Brolund says that includes fewer than 70 structures in West Kelowna and fewer than 20 on Westbank First Nation lands.

Brolund says he's not aware of any missing persons and a specialized search of wildfire-stricken areas suggests no one has died in the blazes.

Cool, smoky days have lingered in the Central Okanagan, aiding firefighters in their attack on area wildfires.

It’s made way for the peeling back of dozens of evacuation orders. However, alerts remain in place throughout Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Lake Country, the Central Okanagan Regional District Emergency Services announced in emails issued on Monday night.
