Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is boasting that the plan to restructure the health-care system is "delivering results" after three months.
Speaking at a news conference Monday, Smith said, "I 'm happy to say that it appears our approach is working. The numbers are trending in the right direction over the last 90 days".
According to the 90-day report on the Healthcare Action Plan, EMS response times are shorter, frequency of red alerts are coming down, and wait times to see a doctor in the emergency room are down 10 per cent.
When asked about criticism Smith had towards Alberta Health Services while she was running for the leadership of the UCP, she responded saying there still needs to be a "shoring up" of the management.
Smith also commented on the news that Alberta had signed an agreement in principle with Ottawa on health-care funding.
"This is a productive first step and I look forward to continue discussions with the Government of Canada on how we can achieve long term sustainable funding."
