Ontario's chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore announced Wednesday that the province is pausing the next step of its reopening plan as it sees an increase in some of its key indicators, including the effective reproductive number, the test positivity rate and weekly case rates.

This means the planned lifting of capacity limits in remaining settings where proof of vaccination is required will not be moving ahead on Nov. 15.

There were 454 new cases reported, a daily count much higher than the same day a week ago when 378 cases were reported.

A total of 243 people were reported in general hospital wards with COVID-19, with 139 patients in intensive care units. Of those in ICU, 116 were on a ventilator.
