Toronto receives single-largest transit funding investment in Canadian history from feds | FULL

Canada’s federal government is set to invest more than $10 billion to help Ontario fund four major transit routes in Toronto, officials said on Tuesday.

The money will go toward the Ontario Line project in Toronto, which will bring rapid transit from Exhibition Place to the Ontario Science Centre, as well as the Eglinton Crosstown West extension, the Yonge Street North Subway extension and the Scarborough Subway extension.

When asked about the timing of the announcement and the possibility of a federal election, Infrastructure and Communities Minister Catherine McKenna denied their was a connection.

A further announcement will be coming on Thursday for an light rail transit (LRT) in Hamilton.
