Canada's premiers held a virtual joint press conference on Thursday with Quebec Premier François Legault as chair.

Legault said the premiers calling upon the federal government to increase its monetary contribution to the Canada Health Transfer from 22 per cent to 35 per cent.

“Mr. Trudeau, now it’s time to act,” said Legault.

The Canada Health Transfer provides provinces and territories with long-term funding for health care.

The presser comes as the country continues to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and work on rolling out the vaccine nationwide. Each province is handling its own rollout, but the federal government maintains all Canadians who want a vaccine will have access to one by the end of September.
