Canadian premiers met on Friday virtually to call on the federal government to increase health transfers to provinces.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to “set a date” in January, so premiers can meet and have a deal on health transfers.
Ford said that Trudeau “can’t keep running for two years” from sitting down with the premiers and that the “people of this country expect us to co-operate.”
All 13 of Canada’s premiers have been demanding a $28-billion increase to the Canada Health Transfer, which they say will bring the federal contribution toward health costs from 22 per cent currently to 35 per cent.
