Alberta's active COVID-19 case count on Tuesday sat at 4,431 cases. According to chief medical officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw that is the lowest active case count since March 9.
"That's over twenty thousand fewer active cases than we had just one month ago," Hinshaw said.
According to Hinshaw, 67% of Albertans 12 and older have had at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, with 15% of the province receiving two doses.
There were 139 new COVID-19 cases identified Tuesday from about 3,400 tests. The positivity rate in the province was 4.2 per cent.
Three hundred and thirty six people are in hospital with COVID-19, and 85 are in intensive care with the disease. There were three deaths reported to Alberta Health between the ages of 48 and 68, according to Hinshaw.
Hinshaw also announced there are 16 cases of the COVID-19 delta variant at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. However, the implementation of control measures has apparently stopped the spread.
