Alberta premier Jason Kenney said Thursday he was "pretty confident" that the province could see the widespread relaxation of COVID-19 public health measures by the end of March.

Kenney made the comment during the province's scheduled COVID-19 update.

Kenney stated he would like to see the end of the restrictions exemption program requiring proof of vaccination at some businesses as quickly as possible, but "that's not right now."

Alberta continues to see hospitalizations reach record numbers with 1,469 reported on Thursday. 106 patients remain in ICU with coronavirus infections.

Kenney also took the opportunity Thursday to criticize Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for "divisive comments" the PM made about the trucker convoy heading to Ottawa.
