More COVID-19 health measures are coming to Alberta, Premier Jason Kenney announced on Monday. Kenney did not explain what measures would be put in place but did say he expects to make an announcement on Tuesday.

The province recorded 2,012 new cases of COVID-19 over the previous 24 hours while also identifying 1,900 cases of variants of concern. Variants now make up 65 per cent of COVID-19 cases in the province.

There are 658 patients in hospital with COVID-19 and 154 people in intensive care.

Four additional deaths from COVID-19 were recorded.

The province also announced on Monday that it would expand the COVID-19 vaccine rollout to teachers, childcare workers and support staff in schools.

Kenney also addressed a large gathering over the weekend called the No More Lockdown Rodeo Rally, saying he was “angered” at the gathering.

“That event was organized by people who simply don’t care,” the premier added.
