Alberta Premier Jason Kenney began self-isolating Wednesday afternoon after close contact with Municipal Affairs Minister Tracy Allard who received a positive test result for coronavirus.

Allard recently had a close contact test positive and has been isolating since getting the news on the weekend, the premier’s office said in a statement.

Kenney’s diagnosis comes even as the provincial government has declined to re-impose coronavirus restrictions despite a surge in COVID-19 cases.

As Heather Yourex-West reports, health officials are warning of a crisis before Christmas if more isn’t done to slow the spread of the virus.
