During a heated round of debate in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reiterated his government's promise of a September date for making COVID-19 vaccines available to "anyone who wants one."

Canada could get more than one million additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine by the end of March through a global vaccine sharing initiative known as COVAX.

But as with most things COVID-19, vaccine-related deliveries are mired in the uncertainty of regulatory reviews and potential production delays.

Canada added 2,828 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, pushing the total number of infections in the country to 786,421.

Health officials across the country also said another 81 people have died after testing positive for COVID-19, meaning to date, the virus has claimed 20,213 lives in Canada.

However, more than 716,000 people have recovered from the disease, and over 22.2 million tests have been administered.
