Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Tuesday that he would not get into finger-pointing with provinces over the COVID-19 vaccine distribution amid frustrations and criticism over the speed of the rollout, but said he would help when asked.

Trudeau made the comments during a COVID-19 briefing alongside Health Minister Patty Hajdu, Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc, chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam and deputy chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo.

Hajdu responded to questions about the potential of "vaccine passports" in order to travel internationally, saying that while this was not the time for travel, they were engaging with international partners to ensure when the time comes people will have documents they require to travel outside the country.

Trudeau and Tam also announced that the country has seen 10 million vaccines delivered to provinces and territories, surpassing the original milestone of six million deliveries by the end of March.

Canada’s total number of confirmed infections surpassed one million on Saturday.
