Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin, Vice-president of operations and logistics at the Public Health Agency of Canada, said on Thursday that the country has received 403,650 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine this week, after two weeks of disrupted deliveries.

A total of 1.5 million doses of vaccines have been distributed to provinces and territories, and the new shipment will be delivered by the end of this week to provinces.

With the government's negotiations with manufacturers to accelerate deliveries, Canada is back on track to meet its vaccine distribution timeline according to the federal government.

The number of vaccine doses administered in the second week of February is back to what it was in mid-January after reduced vaccinations, said Dr. Howard Njoo, Canada’s deputy chief public health officer,

Njoo said that early data collected from provinces and territories show that vaccine distribution is having an impact on rates of infections and subsequently on hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19.
