Health experts are raising concerns about some Canadian provinces beginning to loosen COVID-19 measures even as the B.1.1.7 variant that was first detected in the United Kingdom has been found in all 10 provinces in the country.
Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario are all seeing a change to restrictions, but with the variant potentially more transmissible and more fatal there is concern COVID-19 could spread faster as regions open up and the variant potentially becomes the dominant virus in Canada.
In North Bay, Ont., officials say the South African variant has also been detected as well as in other Ontario communities and B.C., adding further concerns. David Akin reports.
