Officials in Alberta provided an update on Sunday afternoon on the wildfire situation saying that it remains "highly unpredictable," according to Bre Hutchinson of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency.

Hutchinson added that "fire hazards are expected to persist through the remainder of the weekend."

According to local forecasters, the region is expecting a front to move into the province, which "should bring much-needed cooler temperatures, humidity and even rain."

As of Sunday morning, Alberta Wildfire reported 91 wildfires are burning across the province — 84 of which are in the forest protection area — and 23 are out of control.

The fires have destroyed or damaged 275 buildings across Alberta, including homes, businesses, outbuildings and other structures as they blazed a path of destruction 10 times the size of the Calgary area.
