Evacuees from Yellowknife continue to pour into cities across Alberta, with many arriving after a long journey by car or truck.
The City of Calgary said Friday’s arrivals in their city had brought the total number of evacuees to about 3,500. The city says it has capacity for 5,000.
The fire is dangerously close to Yellowknife, approximately 15 kilometres from the city as of the most recent update. The city’s mayor said it is expected to move “much closer” over the weekend.
