Major-General Peter Dawe will no longer be involved in reviewing ways to eliminate sexual misconduct in the Canadian military.

In early May, Dawe was directed to leave his post “immediately,” following reports he wrote a character reference for another service member who had been convicted of six criminal counts, including sexual assault.

As Mercedes Stephenson explains, Dawe was removed after the decision drew backlash from sexual assault survivors.
