On Thursday, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre announced his plan to introduce a housing affordability act in the House of Commons when Parliament begins its fall session on Monday.

"You can buy a castle in Sweden for less than the cost of a two-bedroom in Kitchener," he said.

Calling it the "Building Homes, Not Bureaucracy" Act, Poilievre says the proposed act will ensure quicker home building, less red tape as well as high-density housing next to transit stations.

In addition, he said the union representing WestJet cabin crews should apologize for trying to “silence” free speech. Poilievre used the public announcement system to give a 45-second speech on Sunday night aboard a WestJet plane that was headed to Calgary from Quebec City, after the Conservative party convention.
