Ontario Premier Doug Ford defended his own office on Thursday amid an ongoing controversy surrounding Ontario's Greenbelt.

"I have confidence in (housing) minister (Steve) Clark – he has a big file – I take full responsibility, the buck stops with me. We understand the process could be better, but our goal at the end of the day is to build 1.5 million homes at minimum. We're going to build them, we're going to do everything we can," Ford said during an announcement on skilled trades in Etobicoke, Ont.

Ontario’s integrity commissioner has found that Clark broke ethics rules for his role in the Ford government’s Greenbelt land swap.

In a blistering 166-page report, J. David Wake said the way the province went about removing 7,400 acres from the Greenbelt was “marked by misinterpretation, unnecessary hastiness and deception.”

Ford also shifted some of the blame to the Liberal federal government.

"And just up to a few months back I didn't know the federal government was going to bring in over 500,000 – now we learn that those weren't accurate numbers – it's probably up to 700,000 - 800,000 that are arriving. I didn't get a phone call from the minister, I didn't get a call from the prime minister saying surprise, surprise we're dropping this many people into your province and by the way, good luck you deal with them," Ford said.
