Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a new child-care agreement with the Northwest Territories on Wednesday, which he said would cut child-care fees in half by March 2022.
Trudeau said the agreement would also see child-care costs reduced to an average of $10 a day within five years.
The prime minister also said the new agreement would save families in Yellowknife up to $9,500 a year.
Under the new agreement, a wage grid and certification process will be created and approximately 300 new child-care spaces will open across the Northwest Territories.
