Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Tuesday that while he hears the complaints protesters with the trucker convoy in Ottawa are making, it's time for residents to "get back to their lives" and for businesses to be able to reopen.

He made the comments during a long-term care facility announcement, where he touted the work done by the government when it comes to adding more beds to the long-term care system.

Ford also appeared to put a hard stop Tuesday to any speculation regarding him running for the federal Conservative Party leadership should current leader Erin O'Toole lose a leadership vote on Wednesday. He said he wants to "unite" the province and loves being the premier of Ontario.

In terms of COVID-19, the premier said he agrees with chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore saying the province needs to learn to live with COVID-19, explaining the government has invested in healthcare and is "ready," but said it still needs to be cautious.

Ford's comments on the trucker protest begin at 00:15:00
