Ontario Premier Doug Ford was in Ottawa on Tuesday alongside Transportation Minister Carolyn Mulroney as the city continues to deal with the ongoing shutdown of its LRT.

Ottawa's beleaguered light-rail transit system was abruptly halted during rush hour earlier this month due to an issue with the train's axle bearing.

When asked about the shutdown and claims that the 'Made in Canada' law that is in place from the Ford government is hampering operations, Ford pointed to Toronto's subways. "I don't see the same problem in Toronto," Ford said of the claims.

When asked about allegations by the CEO of Metrolinx, Phil Verster, that the premier's office is in control of the transit operation, Ford refuted the claim, saying, "I don't direct or control anyone."

And when asked about a derailment on the Scarborough LRT, Ford said he and his brother Rob championed the construction of a Scarborough subway line in the past. "This could have been done many, many years ago if the province would have stepped up and supported us," Ford said.
