Canada’s Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Queen’s Privy Council President Bill Blair called for a trilateral table between the federal government, province and City of Ottawa to keep “lines of communication” open between the three levels of government and help bring about a swift end to the ongoing anti-mandate protests in the capital.
“It is well past the time for this… to end,” Blair said, appealing for protesters to leave the capital and end the protest.
Blair made the comments Monday during a media availability alongside Public Safety Minister Marco Mendocino, Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc, Treasury Board President Mona Fortier, Transportation Minister Omar Alghabra and Ottawa Centre MP Yasir Naqvi.
Alghabra called on the provincial government to use its own “extensive regulatory powers” over commercial trucking and road transportation to bring an end to the protests and to learn from other provinces, like Quebec, from its handling of protests.
