B.C. health officials on Monday reported that 20 people died of COVID-19 over the past three days in the province, along with 1,759 new cases of the disease.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the risk of contracting the novel coronavirus remains high.

There were 596 cases from Friday to Saturday while 605 cases were reported from Saturday to Sunday, and 558 from Sunday to Monday.

Of the new cases, 325 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 1,201 were in the Fraser Health region, 50 were in Island Health, 131 were in Interior Health, and 52 were in Northern Health.

More than two million British Columbians have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, Henry said Monday.

Everyone aged 40 and under will be able to book a COVID-19 vaccine starting Tuesday.
