Canadian ministers provided an update on the situation in Afghanistan on Sunday as more Afghans are being evacuated from the country following the nation's fall to the Taliban. Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, Foreign Affairs Minister Marc Garneau and Women and Gender Equality Minister Maryam Monsef spoke during the update.

Mendicino said Canada will continue to help get people out of Afghanistan until the "dangerous" situation at the Kabul airport prevents further evacuations in a safe fashion.

The update comes after officials said another 106 Afghans were evacuated from the chaotic Kabul airport on Friday, bringing them to a safe third country. The flight was Canada's second one out of Kabul since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last weekend, a development that has destabilized the country, sowed chaos and exposed numerous Afghans to violent reprisals for their past support of Western-led, anti-Taliban forces, including Canada's.
