Alberta's COVID-19 situation continues to improve in the province, but two additional cases of monkeypox have been confirmed.

Alberta's chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw made the announcement during the bi-weekly COVID-19 update on Thursday.

Alberta now has four confirmed cases of monkeypox in the province.

Meanwhile Health Minister Jason Copping says "there's a lot of good news" when it comes to COVID-19 in the province, saying all data is showing a downward trend.

On Wednesday, the province said 42 more COVID-19 deaths occurred in the week of May 31.

An Alberta Health spokesperson said a standard review showed 33 previously-reported COVID deaths between October 2021 and April 2022 have been reclassified as non-COVID and removed from the total.
