Alberta recorded 875 new cases of COVID-19 in the province on Wednesday. After completing nearly 16,000 tests, the province’s positivity rate sits at 5.3 per cent. Meanwhile, 23 deaths related to COVID-19 were recorded in the previous 24 hours.
The province’s health care system still faces strain with 820 people in hospital and 137 patients in the ICU.
During her update on Wednesday, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw faced many questions surrounding the province’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout as Alberta Health Services continues to deal with a possible shortage.
