Alberta's top doctor Deena Hinshaw is defending her divisive decision to end the province's pandemic response plan later this month.

Hinshaw has faced backlash from doctors' groups across the country, following the announcement last week that Alberta would be scaling down testing, contact tracing and the isolation requirement for people who test positive for COVID-19.

As Heather Yourex-West explains, the doctor insists the plan is rooted in science, even as the country faces the threat of a Delta-fuelled fourth wave.
