Despite signs COVID-19 cases may be peaking in Alberta, the province's health system is still being pushed to its limits by the Delta variant-driven fourth wave.

A year ago, the October long weekend marked the beginning of the second wave across Canada. This year, there is more exhaustion and anxiety because so many hospitals are over-capacity, health workers are drained, and dozens are dying every week.

The concern now is that Thanksgiving gatherings and loose restrictions may still fuel a bigger surge amid low vaccinations for parts of Alberta. Heather Yourex-West looks at how one family there is grieving, and how vaccine misinformation was a factor.
