South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott delivered the Republican response to President Joe Biden's speech to Congress on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
Scott touted five COVID relief packages that were passed with bipartisan support last year, saying that Republicans were eager to keep working together, but the Biden administration pushed the two major political parties apart. He cited Biden's $2 trillion infrastructure plan, calling it a "liberal wishlist of big government waste."
Normally the full House and Senate and most of the president's Cabinet would be in attendance for the joint session, but because of COVID-19 restrictions, attendance was limited to roughly 200 people.
