Biden touted his administration’s $2 trillion public investment in infrastructure, known as the American Jobs Plan. Biden called it the largest jobs plan since World War II. The initiative would fund projects like modernizing roads and the power grid, replacing lead pipes and adding new electric vehicle charging stations.
“All the investments in the American Jobs Plan will be guided by one principle: ’Buy American,’” Biden said. “American tax dollars are going to be used to buy American products made in America that create American jobs.” He called the plan a “blue-collar blueprint,” adding, “Wall Street didn’t build this country. The middle class built the country.”
For the first time since taking office, President Joe Biden delivered remarks to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Normally the full House and Senate and most of the president’s Cabinet would be in attendance, but because of COVID-19 restrictions, attendance was limited to roughly 200 people.
