Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Wednesday that his government would work together with other levels of government and with private industry to get more housing built, but added there is no “silver bullet” to solve Canada’s housing crisis.

Asked about reports his government is considering a cap on international student visas, the prime minister also cautioned that Canadians should be “very careful” not to blame specific groups for the crisis, including international students.

Trudeau also spoke briefly about the Ontario government opening Greenbelt land for development after the Ontario Provincial Police turned over its investigation to the RCMP. Trudeau said while he would not speak about the RCMP’s investigation, he said he believes the housing crisis can be addressed without building “on protected lands.”

Trudeau also addressed the wildfire situation across the country, thanking firefighters across the country and Canadians who’ve stepped up to welcome evacuees into their homes.
