Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged $4 billion towards housing in Canada in Toronto on Friday, saying there is a “need to increase the supply” during an annual Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) meeting.
“The enormity of the housing challenge is felt by every one of us in this room, no matter where you’re from,” Trudeau said. “Young people and families are being pushed to leave their cities. This is putting new pressure on smaller and smaller communities driving up their housing costs,” he added.
“Our government wants to see housing construction double over the coming years,” the Prime Minister stated.
