Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Wednesday that participating pharmacies will begin offering COVID-19 vaccines by appointment for certain age groups, starting with people aged 60 to 64 years old on Friday.

The pilot program will begin in three public health regions, including Toronto, Windsor-Essex and Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington.

The Ford government is also going to open more than 120 new mass immunization clinics by the end of March, to reach the goal of vaccinating up to 150,000 people a day.

Ontario’s vaccine task force is eyeing the goal of vaccinating another million residents before the end of the month.

Ford said vaccine supply appears to continue improving, as the province received 194,500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Tuesday.
