Ontario health officials say mixing vaccines “very safe” despite WHO warning | FULL

Ontario health officials responded to a warning from the World Health Organization’s chief scientist against mixing vaccines, saying that they believe mixing COVID-19 vaccines is “very safe” and effective.
The province’s associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe said they view Pfizer and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines “as the same vaccine” and said studies out of the U.K., Spain and Germany have found the practice of mixing vaccines produces a “strong, effective immune response.”
However, Yaffe said officials would continue to monitor the data.
Ontario’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore also weighed in on the possibility that Canadians will need a third booster shot, saying that it appears a third shot would likely be limited to vulnerable populations, such as the elderly.
