Ontario's chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams said on Thursday that the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area is not the only concern for public health anymore, citing an increase in COVID-19 cases reported from other Ontario regions including Windsor.

Asked about whether he would recommend a two- to four-week lockdown in the GTHA to Premier Ford, Williams said all options are on the table.

Ontario reported 2,432 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday — marking a new single-day record to date for the second time this week and bringing the provincial total to 148,967.

According to Thursday’s provincial report, 737 cases were recorded in Toronto, 434 in Peel Region, 209 in York Region, 190 in Windsor-Essex,142 in Hamilton and 104 in Halton Region.

The death toll in the province has risen to 4,058 as 23 more deaths were reported.

With the holiday season approaching, Ontario's Public Health also added that they have declared Santa an essential service provider.
