Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delivered virtual remarks, primarily in French, at the fourth edition of the One Planet Summit on biodiversity Monday, stating that Canada would contribute up to $55 million to the United Nations Land Degradation Neutrality Fund “to support sustainable land projects in low-and middle-income countries.”
Trudeau added that any future global climate finance contributions from Canada would include funds for biodiversity.
The global climate summit took place in Paris and was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and World Bank President David Malpass.
