According to exclusive Ipsos polling for Global News, nearly six in 10 Canadians feel there has been more violence in their community since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Among those who feel violence has increased, two-thirds believe it’s because the pandemic has negatively impacted mental health, while half point to the breakdown of common values and social cohesion.
A similar proportion blames economic uncertainty. Meanwhile, there’s not much optimism about the future with eight in 10 people believing acts of violence will increase in Canada.
