Opposition MPs have voted in favour of the NDP's motion for David Johnston to resign as special rapporteur investigating alleged foreign meddling.

The vote also calls on the government to launch a public inquiry into foreign interference allegations, despite Johnston declaring such an investigation was not necessary.
