A day after the resignation of David Johnston, the special rapporteur tasked by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with investigating allegations of foreign interference, political parties are being called on by experts to put aside partisan politics.
Johnston resigned from his role as special rapporteur amid criticism of his ties to Trudeau and growing calls for a public inquiry.
The Canadian government now says “all options” are being considered and is challenging the opposition parties to come forward with their ideas about how a public inquiry should be run — and who should lead it.
As Richard Zussman reports, experts are calling on all parties to put aside partisan politics as the investigation into foreign interference allegations continues.
