Quebec Premier François Legault reassured Quebecers that the province's pandemic situation remains under control as the red zone restrictions extension went into effect Thursday.
Quebec reported 1,030 new COVID-19 cases and 25 additional deaths on Thursday, bringing the provincial case count to 103,844 cases and 6,214 deaths.
Red zone areas will continue to be under stronger restrictions than the rest of the province until Nov.23.
The partial lockdown was supposed to be lifted on Oct. 28, but the premier said Quebecers can't "get too confident" in easing restrictions.
