NDP leader Jagmeet Singh got a warm welcome when his campaign touched down in the northern Ontario riding of Kenora on Friday, where more than 40 per cent of voters are Indigenous.
The visit was part of an effort by the New Democrats to campaign hard in Canada's northern regions, as the party tries to make gains with the Indigenous population critical to the vote.
As David Akin reports, the party has already seen praise for putting Indigenous issues and leaders at the forefront of the election campaign.
